FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Shippenville, PA (June 2, 2021) – In a season already plagued by rain and unseasonably cold temperatures, Mother Nature strikes again forcing the cancellation of Night #1 that was scheduled to take place Wednesday, June 2nd at Michaels Mercer Raceway in Mercer, PA. With the constant light rain throughout the day coupled with the impending nightly forecast, track and speedweek officials agreed to cancel the event with the best interests of the drivers and fans in mind. The race will not be rescheduled.
We now turn our attention to Night #2 that will take place tomorrow on Thursday, June 3rd at the Thunder Mountain Speedway in Brookville, PA. This will be the speedway’s first of two scheduled ‘410’ Sprint Car events on the 2021 schedule, with the other slated for Friday, July 23rd.
Pricing for tomorrow’s event that also includes the Super Late Models and Pure Stocks is General Admission $18, Seniors $16, Students (Aged 7-17) $10, Kids (6 and under) FREE, Pits $30. Gate and starting times are as follows.
4:00 Pit gates open
5:30 Grandstands open
6:15 Sprint car pill draw closes + driver’s meeting
6:30 Sprint car heat-in-motor
6:45 Sprint car group qualifying
7:30 Opening ceremonies
The weekend swing of Western PA Sprint Speedweek will commence on Friday, June 4th at Lernerville Speedway followed by Sharon Speedway on Saturday, June 5th and Tri-City Raceway Park on Sunday, June 6th. All remaining shows will still feature a $3,000 to win, $250 to start purse.
