FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Shippenville, PA (Jun 2, 2021) – Michaels Mercer Raceway in Mercer, PA is groomed and ready to host Round #1 of the 2021 Schaeffer’s Specialized Lubricants Western PA Sprint Speedweek presented by J.S. Bova Excavating on Wednesday evening.
Racers will be competing for a $3,000 winner’s share and an early jump on the rest of the field in the Western PA Speedweek points standings. Additional bonuses include $150 going to the fastest overall qualifier, and an additional $200 award being presented to the hard charger in the A-Main. Both of those amounts can increase if any subsequent Speedweek shows are canceled.
A bevy of drivers with varying experience in the 410 Sprint Car division, at least 17 different cars in total, have already committed to attempting the full five-night swing that will begin tonight on the 3/8th mile D-shaped oval. Long a regular Saturday night home for the 410 Sprints on the Western PA circuit, Mercer has pivoted to hosting a handful of high-paying races for the premier dirt track division in each of the past few seasons since Edward Michaels took over at the helm.
While more than a handful of drivers will be in attendance that have earned wins across the northeast region, it will be Hermitage’s Adam Kekich racing with a target on his back. Kekich, a 3rd generation driver whose family has a storied history in the region, has become a master of the tight confines. After almost going perfect in 2020 at the speedway, he capitalized on the lone sprint car show ran at the track so far this season by picking up the April 24th win over a fourteen-car field.
Pit gates will open at 4pm followed by grandstand gates breaking loose one hour later at 5pm. Times and ticket prices are listed below:
$15 Grandstands
$13 Seniors
$30 Pit Pass
$25 Senior Pit Pass
