2022 Speedweek Point Fund and Bonus Award Details Released

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shippenville, PA (Mar 2nd, 2022) – Fresh off of last year’s speedweek rebirth, the 2022 Schaeffer’s Specialized Lubricants Western PA Sprint Speedweek presented by J.S. Bova Excavating has upped the ante for the second consecutive year. It was previously announced that our nightly feature purse will see an extra $2,000 injected throughout the field, raising the total nightly offering to $14,000.

Furthermore, an impressive $11,000 in point fund money will be distributed across the Top 10 positions, with another $3,000 on tap to reward the fastest qualifier, hard charger, and hard luck drivers of the week. When combined with our increased feature purses, over $84,000 will be up for grabs during the five-night miniseries scheduled for June 1st-5th!

“The endless support from drivers, fans and our partners following last year’s successful reboot was simply overwhelming,” stated speedweek director Tyler Beichner. “Everyone involved has taken notice, and I think that reflects in the packages and prize offerings that we’ve been so blessed and fortunate enough to lay out for the upcoming 2022 Speedweek. I can’t thank all of our partners enough, and this truly is a testament to their love and dedication for our sport.”

The top ten drivers with perfect Speedweek attendance will share an $11,000 point fund with a cool $3,000 going to the champion. Each of the paying spots will see an increase of at least $250 from 2021. The full point fund breakdown is below, and is contingent on the miniseries completing at least three of the five events:

Western PA Speedweek will utilize the same group qualifying format that was used last season, and that has been made popular at Sharon Speedway over the last few years. In one slight alteration, hot laps will be ran separately from time trials. Each heat race group will go out together for a brief hot lap session, with the ensuing 2-3 car time trials to follow immediately after.
