2026 WESTERN PA SPEEDWEEK TO BE HIGHEST PAYING ON RECORD; JEAN LYNCH CLASSIC AND FLOYD TREVIS MEMORIAL HIGHLIGHT FIVE RACE SCHEDULE

March 4, 2026 (Columbus, OH)…The Schaeffer’s Specialized Lubricants Western PA Speedweek presented by J.S. Bova Excavating is proud to release the vast majority of this year’s miniseries details as the countdown to the sixth consecutive running of Western PA Speedweek begins.

The number one goal in reviving Western PA Speedweek a handful of years ago was to push forward the state of local sprint car racing in western Pennsylvania. With that in mind, speedweek officials are once again proud to announce that the 2026 iteration will become the richest speedweek in recent memory with over $100,000 in feature winnings and point fund money on the line. That impressive amount will be furthered yet by additional giveaways, awards and nightly contingencies.

“As more money becomes available for Western PA Speedweek events, we have strategically placed it where I believe we can benefit the most racers,” stated series director Tyler Beichner. “The winner’s share is what gets the attention, and understandably so, but often times it is the money spread throughout the field that bolsters an event. Western PA Speedweek car counts being historically high is an indicator that we’re continuing on the right path for our tracks, drivers and team owners.”

Another secondary benefit of restoring Western PA Speedweek has been seizing the opportunity to bridge the gap between the current state of local sprint car racing with those that laid the foundation for the sport so many years ago. Just two years ago, Western PA Speedweek was fortunate to help bring the ‘Jean Lynch Classic’ to Lernerville Speedway, and this year we proudly introduce the inaugural running of the ‘Floyd Trevis Memorial’ at Sharon Speedway. Many more details are still to come on this newly coined event that honors the father of modern sprint car racing.

A staple of Western PA Speedweek is the point fund that rewards the week’s ten most successful drivers. A cool $13,500 will be split amongst those participants, with $3,000 earmarked for the speedweek champion. As has become customary, the full point fund will once again be guaranteed with a minimum of three races completed.

The previously announced schedule will find Western PA’s finest drivers joined by a select number of invaders as they grace the clay at five area tracks on consecutive nights. After enduring a dismal week of cold and damp weather in 2025, the rain dances have already begun in an attempt to receive the good graces of Mother Nature this time around. Only once since the reawakening five years ago has Western PA Speedweek avoided any rainouts, however tracks and series officials will be trying hard to buck the trend this year.

Scheduled to kick off the week of festivities, Michaels Mercer Raceway will host a Wednesday night soiree on May 27th with a $3,500 to-win, $300 to start program. The weather has treated Mercer especially poorly as the speedway is an astounding 0-for-4 on Western PA Speedweek attempts since the rebirth, with rain winning every year. The speedweek lidlifter will mark the first of three midweek specials to be found on an aggressive season schedule under new owner Earl Michaels. Joining the 410 Sprints at the unique D-shaped 3/8th mile oval will be the RUSH Wingless Sprints and DIRTcar 602 Sportsman Modifieds.

A massive change in scenery is in store the following evening when Western PA Speedweek transitions from the tight confines of Michaels Mercer Raceway to the sprawling half-mile Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway for another $3,500 to-win, $300 to start program on Thursday, May 28th. Affectionately known as “Dirt’s Monster Half Mile”, the wide and racy speedway located just southwest of Pittsburgh has put on incredible racing in recent years. Joining the headliner 410 Sprints will be the Whoa Nellie UMP Modifieds.

Western PA Speedweek will then jumpstart the weekend at the historic Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway on Friday, May 29th. Acting as one of the most iconic dirt tracks of the last 50 years, the traditional Friday night home for area sprint cars will welcome Western PA Speedweek’s finest for the 3rd Annual Jean Lynch Classic presented by Mosites Lynch Racing. The prestigious event will pay $4,000 to-win, $350 to start and be joined by the rest of the Fab 4 Racing family: Super Late Models, Big Block Modifieds and Pro Stocks. With last year’s iteration falling to rain, AJ Flick is the only driver with a ‘Jean Lynch Classic’ on his resume following his masterful drive to the front in 2024.

The penultimate night of Western PA Speedweek requires a short scoot across the Ohio border to the renowned Sharon Speedway for the inaugural running of the ‘Floyd Trevis Memorial’. The 30-lap affair honoring the father of modern sprint cars will be the highest paying race of the week featuring a $5,000 to-win, $400 to start main event. The history of western Pennsylvania racing simply cannot be told without the Hartford, OH oval’s inclusion, as evidenced by the scores of talented drivers that have visited victory lane at the speedway that has been running continuously since 1929! Following a full clay resurfacing nearly a decade ago, Sharon Speedway has enjoyed the highest sprint car counts in the area and has displayed arguably some of the best racing in the country. Joining the 410 Sprints will be the high-powered Big Block Modifieds and the recently introduced Crown Vics.

Last but certainly not least, Western PA Speedweek will cap off an eventful week of racing at the fast half-mile Tri City Raceway Park. Under the tutelage of second year owners Josh and Kyrsten Shiffer, the Venango County oval has experienced a resurgence of sorts highlighted by more aggressive and action-packed scheduling. The curtains will close on the sixth consecutive running of Western PA Speedweek with a $4,000 to-win, $350 to start feature. If last year’s barnburner is any indication, this is a race that you will not want to miss. Joining the 410 Sprints for the curtain call will be the RUSH Sprints and 4Cyl Mini Stocks.

Throughout the week of racing a slew of nightly bonus awards and giveaways will be presented thanks to our amazing sponsors and supporters. These extra prizes, detailed further below at the bottom of the press release, will reward drivers that earn the Quick Time, Hard Charger, Hard Luck and more!

Bova Excavating, there’s no better time than the present to start making your plans to attend.
