OVERNIGHT RAIN, LINGERING SHOWERS AND COLD TEMPERATURES FORCE CANCELLATION OF NIGHT #1 AT MICHAELS MERCER RACEWAY

May 28, 2025 (Shippenville, PA)…The opening night of Western PA Speedweek at Michaels Mercer Raceway has been cancelled due to overnight rains coupled with an unfavorable forecast and less than ideal temperatures for managing the conditions. The D-shaped oval in Mercer, PA continues their streak of bad luck as they are now 0/4 in attempts to complete their first Western PA Speedweek event since 2000. Previous cancellations also occurred in 2021, 2022 and 2024.

All eyes turn toward Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway for Night #2 and the now pseudo-opener of the 2025 Schaeffer’s Specialized Lubricants Western PA Speedweek presented by J.S. Bova Excavating.

Western PA Speedweek will be joined by the Allegheny Sprint Tour ‘305’ Sprint Cars for a two-division showdown. Pit gates will open at 4pm, with general admission gates set to follow suit at 5pm. The drivers meeting and pill cutoff will take place promptly at 6pm, with warmups tentatively slated to begin at 6:30pm.
